Harley my puppy

Organized by Carol R

Harleys newest owie
Harley had to go back to the vet this past Monday because of a pressure sore from his being splinted and wrapped. This is a really nasty sore. The vet got in it and started cleaning it out and saw the bone in his foot. Of course this is NOT good. He has severe infection in it. We have to scrub it everyday with Betadine and then pack it with an antibiotic soaked gauze pad then wrap it with dry bandage. He had another sore trying to get out of control that we are having to put pre

As of 12-15-08 Harley weighs 120.0 pounds

Another update
Well we didnt get to make it until his next scheduled vist which should have been Wednesday. We had to take Harley in for an emergency visit around 2 Friday afternoon. I noticed a nasty ooze coming from his toes and then the swelling. The vet had us take his wrap off immediately then bring him in. SHe scrubbed his foot good with a Chlorhexaderm mixture and put some antibiotic powder on his foot. She didnt re-wrap him beacuse of the sores all over h is foot really need some air to heal. He has to go again on Monday and we will see what happens then!

Please pray for our poor Harley to get better!!

Another vet visit
Harley was back at the vet on Wednesday afternoon. They changed his bandage again and decided to wait for another xray for another week. He now has several pressure sores and his poor little (big) toes are bald now! The vet that is working with Harley is an orthopedic surgeon and she is great!! She is trying to save on our costs as much as she possibly can. I will update again when Harley goes back.

He is now 119.6 pounds as of 12-3-08

Update on Harley
We had to make a trip back to the vet before he was scheduled to go because of his splint shifting on his foot. They came up with another way to splint him that will hopefully work better and be more comfy for Harley. He now has to go in once a week until he is healed so they can check his wrap. He had started to get some pressure sores under the wrap. I will update again after his next vist!

He is 116.9 pounds as of 11-28-08

forgot to add....
The money is needed for everything that will be ongoing. He will have to be xrayed every 2 weeks at $106 each xray. Anytime he has to be re-wrapped it will be $20. He is also on a bunch of medications that we have to pay for. Thanks again!!
What this is about
My 7 month old Great Dane puppy broke his toe and is now going to the vets at the minimum every other week and sometimes once a week. He is taking several different medications also. He is UTD on ALL of his vaccinations and will be neutered in Feb. Anything you can donate to help us help our pup would be great!!
